and without roots, a plant dies.[…] I went with the Cherubini Orchestra to rehearse the Jupiter Symphony by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. An extremely difficult symphony: it begins by captivating you with gentle allure and ends in the purest metaphysics. I chose to hold a few hours of open rehearsals, inviting the entire town. I spoke, explained, gave examples. In the end, there was an ovation of sincere gratitude—from people who had suddenly overcome a barrier and come to grasp the pleasure of music.”
